Opening Day at the 2005 US Open

Michele, Carol, Jodi and I drove up to NY on Sunday and met Arjen for dinner at Markt near Chelsea Market. The next day we all headed over to Flushing Meadows and the US Tennis Center for the first day of the Open. Here's Arjen at the top of Armstrong Stadium, watching one of the first day upsets! Kuznetsova, last year's champion, going down... (plus I'm playing around with 'imaging' of my digital photos...do you like the b&w sepia tone thing going on??) Also, here's Jodi, Carol and Michele up close at Armstrong Stadium at the beginning of the day.

We're on TV!
Carol, Jody, Michelle, Kathy and I attended the Monday night USTA Member Appreciation Night and also went to the Friday QuarterFinal Session. The match of the day was Andy Roddick and Ivo Karlovic (also shown on ESPN2 as part of the US Open Series). Thanks to my TIVO and my Coolpix, I was able to capture these photos to prove we were on national TV!!! Hey, they are bad quality -- but fun anyway!

Trip to Florida

Visiting Friends from High School!
Denise called and invited me to her house as a surprise for Lizzie's birthday. It was a great weekend -- Denise and Guy really spoiled us with great food and fun by their pool. That's Denise in the middle and Lizzie on the right -- a mini high school reunion! Plus a great shot of Denise's family. I even got to see Ray Kennedy -- it's only been 25 years or so!!

Toot Family Reunion

The Toot family gathered in Canton, Ohio over the July 4th holiday weekend this year (2005). We spent most of the time at my Aunt Marna's house, eating lots of great food, having lots of conversations, and trying to fly a styrofoam airplane in the backyard. This is the "Picture that never was..." (...a "collage" picture of us all.) Dona, Brady, John, David, Kim, Terry, Janet, Bray, Maxine, Carl, Marna, Gene, Carol, Dan, Scott, (and Brady again...), plus two other people that I can't remember their name...

Scott and Brady spent some time creating lovely artwork on my laptop using MS PAINT. With a little help from me (cut/paste/rotate) -- here is Brady's Art Work! (Brady is 3.)

Newfoundland (Gros Morne National Park and Tuckamore Lodge)

Terry, Cynthia, Gretchen, and Kathleen embarked on a journey to Newfoundland, Canada in June. Our first stop was Gros Morne National Park for a long weekend. Then a trip up north to the tip top of the western side to St. Anthony (L'ans Aux Meadows where the Vikings landed) and we stayed at Tuckamore Lodge in Main Brook. This is the end of the trip photo. We survived the wind, the rain, the cold, Expedia, wild moose on the road, and each other...for 10 days (Terry, Cynthia, Gretchen, and Kathleen). Plus, my most 'photogenic' shots.

UNC Wins NCAA Basketball Championship

Victory is sweet! Good luck kitty number three (Pickles) pulls out another championship. Tough loss for my Illinois friends (Seth and Cynthia.)
