Trash to Treasure Lamp Remix
It's too bad I didn't do a 'before' shot of this lamp: 1970's shiny black with brass etchings on a round ball at the base, with a spiraling brass thing whirling around the stem. I 'won' this at our WHITE ELEPHANT gift exchange last Christmas at work. First task: spray paint the whole thing beige. Big improvement. I created this for Joe R. at work since he and his wife just had a new baby girl. The color scheme comes from their nursery colors (beige and sage green). I bought little wooden knobs to make as feet; a clock face with a whole in it to act as a base; an aluminum bucket; wooden tulips; a new lampshade; cute little bears; green flowers; ribbon and trim; and fabric (a beige polka dot chenille). I painted the feet and the tulips green, and the base and the bucket were spray painted beige. I sewed up a 'cosie' to cover the hideous spirals. Covered the lampshade with the fabric, added ribbons. Glued it all together. (Also had to cut the cord and get a new plug so that it would go through the bottom of the base...) Anyway, I'll present it to Joe at work on Monday and I hope they like it.
